Grants Services

As a component of the Oswego County BOCES Instructional Support Services, the Grants Services supports BOCES’ mission in providing educational leadership, services and support to meet the needs of our students and school districts. The Program Office provides assistance with program planning, searches for potential grant sources, builds relationships with potential funders, develops program partnerships and completes grant applications.

Featured Funding Opportunities

Target Stores Grant Program to Support Arts and Literacy Programs for Children and Youth. Target will provide direct support to K-12 schools and other nonprofit organizations that foster a love of reading and provide art experiences.

Grants in the amount of $2,000 each will be made for programs taking place between September 1, 2010, and August 1, 2011.

The Lawrence Foundation Grants Program is focused on making grants to support environmental, education, human services and other causes. Foundation make both program and operating grants and do not have any geographic restrictions. Deadline is April 30, 2010.

The ING Unsung Heroes Program annually provides grants to K-12 educators utilizing new teaching methods and techniques that improve learning. Each project is judged on its innovative method, creativity, and ability to positively influence students. Of the hundred finalists, three are selected for additional financial awards — $25,000 for first place, $10,000 for second place, and $5,000 for third place. Deadline is April 30, 2010.

American Honda Foundation supports youth education with a specific focus on the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects in addition to the environment. The grant range is from $20,000 to $60,000 over a one-year period. Deadline is May 1, 2010.

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation Back to School Grants provide funding to school libraries or media centers working to implement new or expand existing literacy programs, looking to purchase new technology or equipment to support literacy initiatives, and/or looking to purchase materials or software for literacy programs. Deadline is May 21, 2010.

National Endowment for the Arts' Learning in the Arts for Children and Youth Program offers funding for projects that help children and youth acquire knowledge and understanding of and skills in the arts. Projects must provide participatory learning and engage students with skilled artists, teachers, and excellent art. Deadline is June 10, 2010.
