NURSE ASSISTANT

This is a 125-hour program, where students learn how to care for the elderly and chronically ill in institutions as nurse aides, nurse assistants or orderlies. The program will include classroom and hands-on experience in local nursing homes. The graduate will be eligible to take the New York State certification test. State certification fees are extra.

Prerequisites include a math and reading test (Test of Adult Basic Education – TABE), a physical and required immunizations, two references and an admissions interview. Course dates are found on the main Health Occupations web page. Click here for a sample TABE test.
