| Practical nurses perform hands-on patient care in a high demand occupation. The program prepares students to work as a practical nurse in such places as home care agencies, nursing homes, physician’s offices, hospitals and health care clinics. Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible for the New York State Licensure Examination. Students may take Regents College Proficiency Examination for advanced credit to a community college for a major as a registered nurse.
Practical Nursing is an 1176-hour program. Program dates can be found on the main Health Occupations web page.
There is a $50 non-refundable application fee required to process your application.
Prerequisites to the program now include:
-WorkKeys Assessment
-current CPR for the Health Provider card
-high school diploma or GED
-a physical and immunizations
-two references
-admissions interview

We also have CPR courses for $75 scheduled to assist students in meeting this part of the admissions process. Once you have paid the application fee and scheduled your WorkKeys Assessment, you will be given WorkKeys prep packets.
Applicants with a current Nurse Aid Certificate may apply to test out of the Nurse Aid portion of the Practical Nursing Program. To apply to take the Nurse Assisting Challenge Test click here. Applicants cannot take the Challenge Test until passing the WorkKeys Tests.
Federal student financial aid consisting of Pell grants and Stafford student loans is available to qualifying adult students. Financial Aid Workshops are held weekly.
