TRANSITION SERVICE PLANNING
As a result of the 1990 and 1991 Amendments of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) all disabilities are required to have a Transition Service Plan in place by age 15. NYS'S Board of Regent mandates transition planning by age 15. The Vocational Evaluation and Assessment Service can assist in the planning process by conducting Level II and Level III assessments.
HOW IS THE ASSESSMENT ACCOMPLISHED?
Through a collaborative relationship with the client, the vocational evaluator develops a customized plan designed to answer specific vocational or occupational questions. This is accomplished through the use of hands on work samples, paper and pencil inventories, interviews and visitations to relevant occupational classrooms and labs.
At the conclusion of the assessment, an evaluation report is prepared that addresses the individual's:
- Academic Achievement
- Measured and Expressed Interests
- Areas of High and Low Performance
- Vocational Assets and Limitations
- Learning Styles/Workstyles/Environmental Preferences
- Short and Long Term Goals
- Recommendations for training, employment potential, remediation or other indicated services.
