In 1987, Oswego County was named one of the few NYS Office of Children and Fmaily Services APPS recipients in the state. The county's teen pregnancy numbers ( per 1000 teens) and the failure of pregnant teens to access prenatal care were at an alarming rate.
The APPS project provided money for addressing these issues, while allowing the county to individualize our approach to reduce the number of teen pregnancies. A Community Council was established to develop and monitor our County's plan.
Oswego County APPS resulted in a consortium of agencies dedicated to serving teens and their families in all areas of Adolescent Pregnancy and Prevention and Services. |
