Agencies serving youth across Oswego County are planning the 11th Annual Oswego County Teen Health Conference (OCTHC) to be held Thursday afternoon, October 20th , through Friday October 21st at Camp Hollis, Oswego. In the past 10 years, over 500 high school students have had the opportunity to explore critical physical and psychological health issues they face in our world today. Students that attend the conference use this introduction to become invested lifelong learners that demonstrate their growth by pursuing avenues to become leaders in their community.
This year we are providing a 2-day conference with a combination of educational and fun activities. Students will be able to attend workshops on various health related topics such as media literacy, body image, sexuality, tobacco, and gambling. Students will have the opportunity to socialize with youth from other school districts during fun activities such as a scavenger hunt, nature walk, and participating in the challenge course.
This program is provided free of cost to participants through grants and donations obtained by Teen Health Conference Committee members. Transportation will be provided from designated points through the county. All conference participants will be expected to ride the bus. If you are interested in bringing a group of young people you are expected to provide a minimum of one adult chaperone per every 10 youth. The chaperone should accompany the youth on the bus in addition to providing supervision at the conference.
