Listed below, by date, are authors we are in the process of booking. Author websites have been included to help you learn more about the authors, their work, and the type of presentations they offer.  Some of these websites also include author contact information.  Since we are already in contact with these authors, please contact us instead, to be part of the block of time already booked. The honorarium does not include expenses. As more schools book a particular author, block booking and splitting travel expenses may lower the overall cost. You are not limited to this list. If you would like to book another author please ask. If you have a request not on this list, please email me and I will check the availability of the author. 2006-2007 School Year   Ann Burg October 9-13, 2006 Current Honorarium: $900 or two days for $1500 in same district Grade Levels: K-12 Number of Presentations: 3 Audience Size: Presentations Length: 45-60 min Ann is having a new book (Rebekkah's Journey) published this Fall 2006 about Safe Haven in Oswego, NY. This would be a wonderful opportunity to bring her in at the same time the book is released! About Rebekkah’s Journey In 1944 President Franklin D. Roosevelt invited 1,000 European refugees, fleeing from Nazi tyranny and horror, to shelter for a time at a vacant army base in upstate New York. Located in Oswego, along Lake Ontario, the Fort Ontario Refugee Shelter housed over 900 men, women, and children from various countries. Fleeing Italy with little more than the clothing on their backs, seven-year-old Rebekkah and her mother are just two of the many refugees who come to live in the Oswego shelter. Haunted by memories of what they have lost and afraid of what an uncertain future will bring, Rebekkah and her mother reside for a time in a limbo world, between resignation and possibility. But each step Rebekkah takes on her journey brings her closer to learning to trust again, learning to hope again, learning to live again.
