Summerfame students will take field trips to participate in experiences like the Sterling Renaissance Festival or to see a play at the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse in Auburn, NY. Students will be transported by BOCES school buses and box lunches will be provided. We recommend that each student bring spending money ($30 or so), sunscreen, sunglasses, umbrellas and cameras on these trips.
Summerfame traditionally invites guest artists to work with the students. For the past 2 years, dancers from Martha Graham Dance Co. and Ballet Hispanico have conducted master classes with dance students.
Each evening, after dinner, students participate in group activities. These include workshops with local arts professionals. Activities include stage combat, Salsa and Meringue lessons, sight reading and movement classes.
Solo competitions – All Summerfame students are encouraged to participate in the solo competition in dance, singing or acting – or all three! Please bring sheet music (no recorded music or CDs) and/or dance shoes and scripts for this fun and challenging opportunity.
Technical Theatre Students travel to Harborfest in Oswego, NY to work side by side with professional stage hands and musicians throughout the weekend festival.
