
– Delve into the art and craft of acting for the stage! Refine audition technique, hone improvisational skills, sharpen scene work and explore theatrical genre – drama, comedy, melodrama, comedia dell’arte, farce, the list goes on… Explore aspects of movement, stage combat, voice and diction and stage make-up. Students may choose to major in acting and will also participate in vocal training and choreography as they study all aspects of musical theater. |

– All Summerfame performance students will work with a professional choreographer as they lear all about movement in musical theater. |

– Hands-on, intensive instruction in all areas of the art of stage management - lighting and sound design, stage management and safety in theater. Tech students will study set construction elements and design complete sets for two to three major plays, including the Summerfame finale. During the weekend of July 28-31, these students will become stage managers and crew for performances at Oswego Harborfest and stay on the Oswego State campus. Generally, techical theater design students do not participate in the acting or dance program. But if they desire to do so, we can alter their schedule to include performance instruction. |

– Students may elect to focus on vocal music and will also participate in acting and choreography classes. Singers will explore all aspects of vocal music—technique, physiology, stage presence, song study, auditions, and repertoire. Individual and group instruction focuses on skills to help each student grow as a vocalist. Students are encouraged to sing a variety of music and may select solo repertoire according to their personal interests—from baroque to pop to Broadway. |
