School Libraries in Oswego County are eligible to receive a number of online resources through NOVELny, Northern New York Library Network, and the Oswego BOCES School Library System:

NOVELNY logo

Provided by the New York State Library, NOVELNY connects New Yorkers to 21st century information. NOVELNY is supported with temporary federal Library Services and Technology Act funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The New York Library Initiative is a proposal for permanent state funding for NOVELNY, a pilot project for the Statewide Internet Library.

Ebsco

A collection of reference materials geared towards elementary and middle school users, including the full text of 68 periodicals and over 100 student pamphlets, Funk & Wagnalls New Encyclopedia, Encyclopedia of Animals, and an image collection of over 107,000 photos, maps and flags. The collection may be searched as a group, or by using the targeted links, below.

Academic OneFile

A comprehensive collection of peer-reviewed, full-text articles from leading journals and reference sources. Provides extensive coverage of the physical sciences, technology, social sciences, the arts, literature, and other subjects. Includes a number of targeted collections, to help users quickly find what they're looking for.

 

Business and Company Resource Center

1980 – current

Providing researchers with information on companies, markets and industries. From market trends, mergers and acquisitions to current management theory and company overviews. Access business and trade journals, newspapers and company directory profiles with full text and images.

 

Health Reference Center Academic

Full-text articles from nursing and allied health journals, plus a wide variety of personal and health information sources. Material contained in this resource is intended for informational purposes only.

 

Infotrac Custom Newspapers

A collection of more than 900 newspapers, both national and international titles.

 

New York State Newspapers

28 major newspapers published in the state of New York, including the New York Times and the New York Post.

 

National Newspaper Index

1977 - current

National Newspaper Index provides quick access to the indexing of America's top five newspapers in one seamless search: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post.

 

Twayne’s Author Series – Twayne World, English, and US Authors Comprises 600 full-text titles from the Twayne Literary Masters series, 200 each from Twayne World, US, and English Authors.

 

 

Grolier

 

Encyclopedia Americana

Geared for High School level research. Articles include links to further readings, a bibiliography, web pages, and links to related Encyclopedia Americana articles.

 

Grolier Multimedia

A Middle School/Junior High School encyclopedia. Includes articles, news, timelines, quizzes and games, and an atlas and dictionary. Articles can be grouped by lexile level and are aligned to standards.

 

 

New Book of Knowledge

For younger researchers. Includes literary selections, a timeline, projects and experiments, news, and homework help.

Northern New York Library Network

Full text of the Watertown Daily Times, dating from 2/22/1988, plus full-text from 8 popular magazines, and Slate.com and Stateline.org

  A collection of digital copies of photographs, oral histories, postcards, scrapbooks, newsletters, musical scores, yearbooks, and similar materials from libraries and archives throughout Northern New York.

Northern New York Historical Newspapers are provided by the NNYLN to enhance access to the region's unique local history. The online collection currently consists of more than 1,800,000 pages from forty-five newspapers
