The CIC Committee serves as the link between the NYS Education Department and our local school districts in implementing the standards and assessments set forth. Participants include district superintendents, curriculum directors, principals, and others who are responsible for instruction, assessment, curriculum, and professional development. It is the forum for BOCES to communicate NYS Education Department information to the districts, to interpret that information, and to generate solutions and requests. Our focus is collaboration and professional dialogue as we work and learn together to develop solutions to the issues our students face in this county.
Our focus for the upcoming 2010-2011 school year is High School Reform and Formative Assessment. We will be exploring these topics throughout the year in a variety of ways. This focus is reflected in our offerings as well. We welcome ideas, information, and best practices you may have to support this focus.
Our BOCES Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Support Services, Staff Development Coordinator, and School Quality Research Specialist plan CIC meetings. Guest speakers are invited to present programs that may be beneficial to the districts. Agendas are sent out prior to the meetings to committee members who may contribute agenda items at any time. The CIC Committee will meet nine times during the 2010-2011 school year.
