The 6:1:1 Program is located at BOCES Campus in Mexico and is for students whose management needs are highly intensive, requiring a high degree of individual attention and intervention. Each classroom is staffed by a New York State certified teacher with a Master's Degree in special education, along with at least one paraprofessional. In addition all staff members participate in Behavioral Management Training.
The staff has begun to and will continue to be trained in Life Space Crisis Intervention, a specialized interviewing technique used as a proactive attempt to prevent student crisis situations. The 6:1:1 Campus Program incorporates a wholistic approach to education, maximizing students educational potential through provisions of mental health oriented supports, other health-related supports, and broad educational programming to meet these student' complex needs.
