The Multi-Occupational program is a vocational assessment program for students ranging in age from 13.7 to 18+ years of age with an identified classification. Placement is made through a recommendation, on students IEP, made by the local Committee on Special Education.

The Multi-Occupational program is also available for non-classified students ranging in age from approximately 14.7 to 16.6 years of age. The home school guidance counselor or principal makes a recommendation for placement in the Multi-Occ Program.

The Multi-Occupational Program has five components:

  1. Pre Multi-Occ  is a general shop exploratory program for students.
  2. Multi-Occ I  is designed to assess student interests and aptitudes in various occupational areas.
  3. In Multi-Occ II , students interests and aptitudes continue to be assessed while the student is provided additional specific skill development.
  4. The  Multi-Occ III and IV programs function as hands-on, academic programs with emphasis on "Work Preparation and Production".
  5. Occ Ed with Resource is designed to assist students in the transition from Multi-Occ to a mainstreamed Career and Technical Educational program.

Students receive informational as well as hands-on experience in different occupational modules. Computer-assisted instruction is also utilized to reinforce related vocabulary and math concepts. At the end of each module the instructor provides written feedback to the students, parents, and home school district personnel. Emphasis of the written assessment is placed on specific occupational skill development, work habits, and social skills. Formal aptitude and interest assessment instruments are used to provide additional information.

After two to three years in the program, students should be ready for regular occupational education or a work-study program.

**Note: High school students attending Multi-Occ programs may be eligible for high school credits. Decisions regarding credits are made by the home school district. Questions that arise should be directed to the appropriate personnel of the local school district.
